A re-mastered, deluxe version of Nirvana’s ‘Bleach’ album will be released later this year to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary.
The double CD/EP edition will also feature a 1990 concert by the band at Portland’s Pine Street Theatre, as well as a 16-page booklet featuring previously unreleased photos.
Bleach was the debut album by the US grunge band and was released on June 15, 1989. Originally a modest commercial success, the album gained renewed interest after the runaway success of Nirvana’s second album ‘Nevermind‘, and went on to be certified platinum in the US.
It was recorded primarily at the Reciprocal Recording Studios in Seattle, Washington, and was produced by Jack Endino. The sessions began on Christmas Eve 1988 and culminated at the end of January 1989. Kurt Cobain would later claim pressures from the band’s label, Sub Pop, influenced the album: “There was this pressure from Sub Pop and the scene to play rock music,” he said. “Strip it down and make it sound like Aerosmith.”
