Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O To Release Film Soundtrack

Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O is to release the soundtrack album to forthcoming film 'Where The Wild Things Are' next month.

The singer, billed as
Karen O And The Kids, has composed the music for the Spike Jonze-directed film, and has enlisted her bandmates plus members of Queens Of The Stone Age, The Raconteurs and Deerhunter.

The album will be released on September 29 in the USA. A single,
'All Is Love', will be released on August 25, reports Rolling Stone.

Musicians who appear on the album include
O's Yeah Yeah Yeahsbandmates Nick Zinner and Brian Chase, plus Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age and The Dead Weather, Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather,Aaron Hemphill of Liars and Britney Spears and Lily Allen producer Greg Kurstin.

Speaking to
MTV News, Karen Osaid the involvement of director and ex-boyfriend Jonze was the main reason she signed up to produce the music for the film.

"I got involved because of
Spike," she said. "I guess there is a childlike innocence about my music or my persona that he always just kind of dialled into. So I guess he thought I should make music for 'Where the Wild Things Are', and I assembled a group of mostly rock musicians to make the music."

She added: "To play on it and it was a really amazing experience and I think what he has accomplished with the film is basically the impossible. There's a lot of stuff that they told me
Spike couldn't do that he did it anyway, and it was a really inspiring and exciting thing to be a part of."
