Ex-Nirvana Members Unhappy Over Kurt Cobain's 'Guitar Hero' Appearance

Former Nirvana members Dave Grohland Krist Novoselic have criticisedActivision, the makers of the 'Guitar Hero' computer games, for making the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain a character in the latest version of the game.

The pair said they had been unaware that the
Cobain character in 'Guitar Hero 5' could be used in such a way, and has urged the company to alter the game so he can only play the two Nirvana songs, 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Lithium', featured, reports BBC News.

"While we were aware of
Kurt's image being used with two Nirvanasongs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character," they said in a statement.

They added: "This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge
Activision to do the right thing in 're-locking' Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future."

Activision said they had a written agreement from Courtney Love,Cobain's widow, allowing them to use the singer/guitarist as a playable character in the game.

Love has disputed the claim through her Twitter page,Twitter.com/courtneylover79, threatening to sue Activision and get "damages against these fuckers".
