COLDPLAY took inspiration from their heroes when they were starting out - they copied JEFF BUCKLEY for their hit 2000 single SHIVER. Frontman Chris Martin admits the band subconsciously took inspiration from their music idols when they were writing songs in the early days of their career. He says of Shiver, "It's a blatant Jeff Buckley attempt. Not quite as good, that's what I think. We were 21 and he was very much a hero, and as with those things it tends to filter through." The British rockers are facing a lawsuit from guitar great Joe Satriani, who has accused the group of copying segments from his 2004 instrumental If I Could Fly for their 2008 hit Viva la Vida.
