Birmingham, England (CNS) - Rock band AC/DC's Birmingham concert is the subject of a police investigation after counterfeiters left hundreds of fans without tickets on Friday.
According to Sunday Mercury, hundreds of fans, some of them young children, were refused entry to the quintet's concert at the NEC's LG Arena after concert organizers realized that their tickets were fake.
The organizers told the disappointed fans that their tickets, costing almost $60, were part of a counterfeit scam. Fans with genuine tickets were stuck in queues that built up outside the arena, causing them to miss the beginning of the show.
Those who were conned said that although their tickets did not exist, their cash has been taken from their account.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and were interrogated by officials. Further investigation into Internet fraud is ongoing.
A spokeswoman for the NEC (National Exhibition Center) told the Sunday Mercury, "West Midlands Police are now investigating this matter. Regrettably the tickets in question were fraudulent so we had no choice but to refuse these fans entry."\
The Birmingham concert is part of the band's "Black Ice World Tour" show stop.
